Oakland Goes Outdoors (OGO) is a collaboration between the San Francisco Foundation (SFF), the Bay Area Wilderness Training (BAWT), OUSD Middle School Network, OUSD Expanded Learning After-School Programs, and the Oakland Public Education Fund. This project is supported with the generosity of the Youth Access to Nature Fund at the San Francisco Foundation. The goal of Oakland Goes Outdoors is to increase opportunities for middle school students in Oakland to regularly experience the outdoors. The grant program will provide funding for trips, outdoor leadership training, trip planning support, and free outdoor equipment loans. The grant period for the 2021-22 academic year is August 9, 2021 to May 25, 2022.
Each school site that participates in OGO has a minimum of $6,000 to support trips during the 2021-22 school year.
